I think function should come first in design, and form a close second. I believe good design solves a problem and it usually starts with a chicken-scratch of a sketch nestled somewhere in the depths of a well-worn sketchbook.
Nick Maggio makes good high quality graphic design. I think good design comes from great ideas and I am full of it them.
Whole-hearted and never half-assed, I am one to roll up my sleeves and get the job done. It may come from that so-called “mid-western work ethic” or maybe just a sense of pride in seeing my ideas come to life. Or maybe it’s so I can draw pictures for a living and hopefully get paid for it. Who’s to say?
