I always thought designing for a bank would be incredibly boring, much like being inside the lobby of a bank.
I was wrong! It turns out, this bank is different in more ways than one. Being truly the first online banking platform forces First Internet Bank to think and do things a little differently. Maybe that’s why they were cool with their rebrand looking a little different as well. It was refreshing to work with clients that, especially in the financial industry, weren’t afraid to make bold choices. I did all the usual rebrand stuff; complete website overhaul, custom set of icons and illustrated vignettes, many banner ads, emails, and a whole vault of sales collateral. I also did a lot of non-traditional bank stuff like parade floats, videos for 30’ wide lobby screens and shirt designs (cool shirts, not banky shirts). I also checked off Giant Mural from my design bucket list as I got to create a huge (like three stories tall!) wacky mural for their brand new HQ. Oh yeah, they also wanted me to design a beer for them. A beer. For a bank!
